Swatched: Aliquid Lacquer

I've known Allison from Aliquid for a while- particularly after she nominated me for a Leibster last year! Imagine how excited I was to hear that she was also planning an indie brand. Of course I had to get my hands on some, as soon as I possibly could.

I actually swatched these a few weeks ago already, but I hadn't gotten around to editing them because the sheer number of photos I took was daunting. Usually for an NOTD I'll have as many as five pictures, here I have over three times that. That aside, I think these are some of the crispest swatches I've ever done, so hooray for that!

Regarding application and formula: All of these applied about the same, opaque in 2-3 coats, applying evenly and smoothly with an easy to manipulate formula. I experienced no pooling or streaking or even brushstrokes on any of them.

NOTD: Something Old, Something New

I'm participating in an Israeli beauty blogger's challenge, where we get abstract concepts and we have to make a post that relates to it. The first time it was a painting (which I missed), the second time was on the theme "Collections", and this round is "Time"

I could have done a TARDIS. I seriously considered it, even. But honestly I've done TARDIS nails a number of times before so I decided that this time I'd try something a little different:

I still have the very, very first polish I ever got- fourteen years ago. And it's still as good as new! I was twelve years old, and I'd been begging my mother to let me wear nail polish for a while- she said she'd think about it. Then one day I came home from school and she came over to me and said "I have a kiss for you" and pressed a nail polish gently to my cheek, and then she said "I have another kiss for you" and pressed another bottle to my other cheek. They were both by the brand Kiss Cosmetics, which I believe no longer has a core polish line (although they sell gels and nail art polish).

I have the oddest deja vu about this post- have I told this story before? I've checked through my recent posts and don't see anything about it, but let me know if I've mentioned this before.

Anyway, one of the polishes got lost a long time ago, but the other- a sheer pearly pink topper called Cotton Candy- that I still have. (shown here over Chic My Secret, which is a pale rosy peach)

As to the "new"- since I was using my very oldest polish in this NOTD, I decided to also make something completely brand new. I printed out water decals of sheet music for an old favorite song of mine, and when they were less than an hour old I applied them on top.

I wish I'd taken sunlight pictures of this, but the sun refused to cooperate with my work schedule.

NOTD: So many rhinestones!

I don't often do bling-heavy nails. A rhinestone here and there to add some sparkle is usually enough for me. But I recently got an order from MoYou London, and there were rhombus shaped rhinestones, and I couldn't help myself:

The base polish is Careline Flamingo.

Oddly enough, I've tried doing something similar with rhombus shaped gluquins, but it was much more difficult. They're approximately the same size, so I wonder why that is!

NOTD: Springy Skittlette

I'm back to shorties! I've been playing the harp more recently, so I need to keep my nails short for the forseeable future. Still, there's a lot to be done with tiny short round nails, if you are creative enough. I recently picked up China Glaze "For Audrey", which I've been given to understand is a collection staple. So I immediately needed to use it in a skittlette!

Polishes used:
China Glaze- For Audrey
China Glaze- Secret Peri-Wink-Le
Sacara 104 (I think... there are a few similar ones and I forget which I used)

I've been tagged!

I got tagged in a nail polish thing! Wheee! I got tagged by Jordan at Just For Fun, and here are my Q's and A's:
  1. How many nail polishes do you have?
...I'm not exactly sure, honestly. I used to keep them all orderly in an excel file, but I lost track a little bit. I think around 400? Here's what my collection looks like right now:

Giveaway winners!

I'm a week late! I'm sorry. I'd picked the winners a week ago, but I forgot to announce it or notify anyone. So here we are!

I've embedded the giveaway widget here again, you can't enter anymore but it displays the winner's names.

Winners have 72 hours to get in touch with me to claim their prizes, and if I don't hear from them I will pick a new winner.

Don't worry though, I'm definitely going to do more givwaways! Probably not as big as this one in the future, but I might give away the odd polish or necklace here or there :D

I forgot about WOW!

Man, I knew there was something missing when I posted the giveaway. Turns out I forgot an important Israeli brand for my giveaway- WOW Cosmetics! So here they are. There are only four days left to enter the giveaway, so make sure you head right over there after this and enter!

WOW 368

This is a fun little mix of large and small purple and white matte hexes. Not much to say about it except that it's got a good payoff and applies evenly- shown here as one coat over white and black.

WOW 317

This is exactly the same as 368, except with mint green hexes instead of purple. The collection also came with a red version and a pink version, but I liked these two best.

Also, remember how I promised to upload better swatches of some of the prizes? Well here they are:
